We all have that go to restaurant. The place where we go when there is nothing in the fridge and the idea of going to the grocery store is more than we can bear. To be honest, I have a few of those places. The Bistro at the Bijou and The Tomato Head are my indulgences. I could eat the Oh Boy sandwich every day for the rest of my life (Oh Boy – fresh spinach
free farmed chicken
benton’s bacon
sundried tomato
monterey jack
poppyseed dressing
mayo
heated.)
My top picks are:
1. The Tomato Head
2. Nama
3. Gosh (Ethiopian Restaurant)
Hard Knox Pizza
1. Holy Lane (next to Gosh)
2. Ichiban
3. Oodles
4. Downtown Grill & Brewery (but it is soooo loud)
5. Tea at the Gallery
ok, #1 has a small typo: Holy Land
Some other great mentionables:
Mexico Lindo
Cafe 4
Sunspot
Waffle House on Cedar Lane
West Knoxville Texas Roadhouse
Ray’s has really good sandwiches
I love eating at the Palavah Hut on Magnolia Ave. It is Knoxville’s only Liberian restaurant. Most of the dishes are served with rice, whether it’s Jallof, brown or check rice. The chicken gravy is tasty and the fish kalla (fritters) are my favorite. Th ginger juice is refreshing and healthy!
